Vacuum thermoforming is usually the better choice for large parts at low-to-mid volumes. Its single-sided tooling costs far less and is ready in about 2–3 months, versus 3–6 months for injection tooling, so amortized tooling keeps the total cost-per-part lower at those volumes.
